O/T space chat (from space news)
I thought it was the chit-chat part of the space thread that was moved here. I think Henry's and Brian's links to articles can be discussed in the other thread.
If everybody agrees, I'll move the notes later.

I'd like the articles and chit-chat to be in the same place, whether here or there. Separating them could cause split personality syndrome...
The "general" forum does seem slightly more logical for non-fiction stuff (real space exploration, astronomy, addition of new elements 113 & 115 to the periodic chart, things like that).

No Brian. I spent the better part of an hour going over that thread trying to figure out what the O/T was about. I finally figured it out, and that's when I posted that the thread was On topic.
I just split the last part of the chit chat out becouse it was soo funny that I didn't want it to end. 8)
The space thread is still open and ready for more news. Only the extranious chit chat about my post was moved.
Please feel free to continue posting updates, and chat about those updates in the other thread.
Sorry if I have confused anyone.
I will now move the ontopic updates to the other thread.

You're probably right about this being an appropriate place for real life space news, but it has already been split out of here. Sorry.Henry J wrote:I'd like the articles and chit-chat to be in the same place, whether here or there. Separating them could cause split personality syndrome...

Now I'm confused.
Space News (SNW) had Space Chat (Gen) split off, then there was a Part 2? Was that while I was gone? Anyway, Part 2 has now been merged back into the original (Space Chat, I think).
Anyway, I unlocked Space News (SNW). Let the space thread war commence. May the best thread live long and prosper, and the other wither on the vine!!!
It's not like we have a proliferation of redundant threads around here, anyway.

In an attempt to get the space news thread back on topic, I split the topic in two.
This one, and the original.
Then, news was posted here, so I attempted to "merge" the actual news back into the news thread in snw. I ended up with 2 space news threads in snw.
After a search of another forum and it's database, I found the proggy to upgrade this forum so that I could merge 2 threads. I did that in snw with the 2 space news threads.
I left this here becouse it was too good to throw away.
I have no clue why the space news thread in snw was locked. Thanks Brian for unlocking it.
Since then, Your 2 mods and I have talked, and I've loosend up the rules to allow for off topic chat in the topic threads. (there's a thread here somewhere where I anounced it.)
Sorry for the confusion.

Uhmm... I locked the original Space News thread when the second one was created - for continuity - because people were posting in both threads. Apparently it didn't get unlocked when you re-integrated them. My note stating that the old thread was locked is now on page 5.trucker2000 wrote:I have no clue why the space news thread in snw was locked. Thanks Brian for unlocking it.
