Welcome back everyone

Post by trucker2000 » Fri Jan 09, 2004 4:02 am

Well, let's see, where do I start... :scratchhead:
First off, I'm truely sorry for the long delay in getting this forum back up and running. I hope no one had to get treatment or go on meds to cope with the loss.

What happened....

2 things actually. Both unrelated, but intertwined.

1. My host got:
A. Hit with a virus that shut down the server
B. Some corperation added something to their website that pulled soo much bandwidth that it shut the server down.
I really don't know which, as my host has given me both explinations.

2. My hard drive got formatted. My Daughters boyfriend played with my computer and downloaded a virus. I restored my puter to an earlier date, went fine for a couple of days, but then started acting up again.
I restored again, but this time something went wrong and my hard drive formatted. To top it offf, My Grandson killed my backups.

Why did it take so long to get the forum back up?

Well, hehe, I bought my webspace thru Ebay. I guess my host thought he was going to make a killing with a bidding war, started the price out at 1/2 his normal cost, but the only one who bid was me. :rotfl: So, I got a monster site for 1/2 price. I'm kinda low on his priority list.
It took 6 emails to get my site back, and another 8 to get the forum database.

Oh well, We are back. (arrg, my clapping smilie is gone. Will reupload it)

Give me a day or two and the snow will melt and the regular colors will be back. I've already taken the tree down and stored it till next year. :D

Hope all are well.

Mike

Hi Trucker. Your mass mailing of the announcement apparently worked, because I got it. But I'll post a note on the Computing BB anyway.

Treatment? We can get treatment for this??

Thanks for you hard work, trucker. It's MUCH appreciated.

Maybe you need to lock up your computer in a "Security Roon" :)

I'm thinking daughter's boyfriend is in major touble here :whip:

Those of us in the Great Northwest can creep out our front doors without going arse over tea kettle today. Would have had to slide around on my butt. Very scary. The office is opening at Noon today. Been closed since Tuesday. Kinda fun to be off work but ya can't go ANYWHERE!!

The ice sheeting, which is all over absolutely everything, is starting to melt, fall off buildings & konking people in the heads. The ice sheeting in many places is actually 1-2 inches thick. The ice sheeting on the airplanes was that thick. They looked like they were covered in one of those plastic seals used by Dr. Polanski in a TNG episode! Airport was completely closed down for 3 days. Snow is fun, but this ice, though pretty & odd to look at, is pretty poopy to deal with. Guess you can tell with all the blah, blah, blah I have a bad case of cabin fever. LET ME OUT!!

Anyhow, glad we're all back together :ghug:

Computers! Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em.

:) Thanks for bringing the place back to life, Trucker!

 You are welcome.
It's good to be back. :)

Oh, and my daughters boyfriend doesn't show up around here anymore.
I really don't think it has anything to do with my pulling out my hatchet and telling him that if he even thought about going anywhere near my computer again that I would cut his fingers off 1/4 inch at a time. Naawww, couldn't have done it. :lilangel:
