Most people have heard absolute zero described as the lowest possible temperature, but what does that mean? Is it really the coldest cold, or just the lowest temperature that we can measure? And is there a corresponding highest temperature? [...]

Fermilab physicists discover "triple-scoop" baryon

Physicists of the DZero experiment at the Department of Energy's Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory have discovered a new heavy particle, the Ξb (pronounced "zigh sub b") baryon, with a mass of 5.774±0.019 GeV/c2, approximately six times the proton mass.

Heat is molecular motion, so presumably the absence of molecular motion, absolute zero, really is the coldest cold, not just the lowest temperature that we can measure. I have never heard of a highest theoretically possible temperature. I suppose that molecular motion would be limited by the speed of light, like everything else, but I have never heard a specific temperature associated with it.
