First Quantum Teleportation between Light and Matter
Researcher at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Garching and the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen have succeeded in transferring a quantum state of light to a material object - an ensemble of atoms.
You know, in the past when I've gotten in online arguments with Physics STUDENTS who passed their most recent tests and are POSITIVE they know everything there is to know it's times like this that steel my position.
This in nothing I could have ever dreamed of other than coming from the mind of an alcohol and drug soaked mind of a marginal SciFi writer. And yet, here we are, almost.
What I would really like is for all of those know-it-all students to now genuflect before me and kiss my communicator! Just because they didn't teach it to you in school does NOT mean it isn't possible.

Wonder how many of them know why an up quark has an electric charge of opposite sign and twice the magnitude of the charge of a down quark?
(Though I've no idea if the experts have an answer to that question yet, or if at this point that's still something that has to be measured.)

A boost for solar cells with photon fusion
An innovative process that converts low-energy longwave photons (light particles) into higher-energy shortwave photons has been developed [...]
the scientists have, for the first time, manipulated normal light, such as sunlight, to combine the energy in photons with particular wavelengths
