Blogs
Does anyone here have a blog? I'm just starting to investigate Yahoo! Blogs then I read in the NYTimes about vlogs. Yup, that's VLOGs. It seems with the digital age folks are posting their own mini-movies on their blogs making them vlogs. Some of them are quite well thought of by news media types. In fact even some newsy folks have started both blogs and vlogs.
"Brave New World" out there and just as soon as I get done sucking my thumb I'm going out there and....what?

Nope. Don't even keep a journal, so I'd be hard-pressed to find something worthy of others' attention to post up all the time.
The subject of privacy came up on The Daily Buzz a week or so ago. The question was should a parent read their child's diary (or blog) if they think the kid is up to no good? My first thought (as a non-parent) was that reading the kid's diary is an invasion of privacy. Then one woman emailed them, saying that it is a parent's first duty to protect their child, using whatever means are at their disposal, and if they think the kid is treading dangerous waters, it is not only their right, but their responsibility to read it. She also said that the parent and kid should understand that openly from the beginning. That convinced me. Of course, I don't see how a blog, posted on the blooming Internet, has any reasonable expectation of privacy.

Only blog I regularly look at is Panda's Thumb - but it's not personal stuff, it's more news on a particular issue type thing.

Panda's Thumb is a very interesting site but how do you find time to read all that?Henry J wrote:Only blog I regularly look at is Panda's Thumb - but it's not personal stuff, it's more news on a particular issue type thing.

You'd be surprised. Your posts here are far more interesting than most of the Blogs I've already looked at.
Privacy is a problem or so I've noticed. Yahoo does give the user an opportunity to limit viewership including to the point of restricting children. Good so far as it goes but I've already run into a couple of Blogs that I am sure most parents wouldn't want their children to see. Sort of like Electronic Exhibitionism. The subject of privacy came up on The Daily Buzz a week or so ago

One of the nits I have to pick with MS software is some of the viewing done by a 'puter user is available to trace with little or no knowledge. Curiosity gets to all of us at one time or another. How many people out there would like to go to jail for looking through a friend's medicine cabinet while using their loo?
Thanks. It's funny, when I was typing that, a random thought passed through my mind, wondering if I put all of my various board postings into a blog format, how much text would it be? Probably more than I'd like to know.Xjmt wrote:.Nope. Don't even keep a journal, so I'd be hard-pressed to find something worthy of others' attention to post up all the time

This reminds me of a hidden camera show some time back (maybe Candid Camera, I don't know). Follow me here... They took a square tupperware container and filled it with marbles. They held a piece of cardboard over the top and put it in a medicine cabinet laying on its side with the top facing outward. They closed the medicine cabinet door, then slid the cardboard out. Set the hidden camera and let the hilarity ensue. As soon as a guest of the dinner party opened the medicine cabinet, the marbles came pouring out into the sink, making a horrible racket. And there was of course no way of getting them back up there! It was a riot!Xjmt wrote:How many people out there would like to go to jail for looking through a friend's medicine cabinet while using their loo?

There was a commercial awhile back ...for some airline. Woman after washing her hands opens the medicine cabinet...looks at something and silently giggles then puts the something back and the shelf collapses spilling everything into the sink....and off camera you hear..."Wanna get away?"

360 is what I'm working on. If I pump BevH into their search feature would I find you or are you using another name?BevH wrote:I use Yahoo 360... but I only have like 3 entries to my blog.
I'm not sure how open to the public it is, but I think only other people using 360 can see it. Could be wrong and probably am.
The 360 seems to automatically be set to "Public" view but I've changed mine to "Friends". I've sent an invitation twice to another and not received a response so I don't know what the story is.
I'll see if I can find you then maybe you try to find me.
No blog here, I don't even post much on the forums. And I rarely ever read other people's blogs.

Yes, I'm BevH there too. I had to check... darn memory...Xjmt wrote:360 is what I'm working on. If I pump BevH into their search feature would I find you or are you using another name?
