We have a scheduled discharge date of next Thursday, 10/18.

Apparently he is behaving better for them than for me. He will have physical therapy, occupational therapy, and a nurse coming out to the house after he comes home. And he can come home with the tube feeding, which they restarted yesterday, if he doesn't start eating before next week.

Be sure to impress upon him the importance of doing every bit of therapy they offer, and to do the exercises they tell him to do on his own.
My mother had a double hip replacement and the therapy was daunting. I told her the surgeon did all he could do and the rest was up to her. She'd have to do it, or not do it and be prepared to live with the results. So she pressed through and after a few weeks didn't even need a cane anymore. That was seven years ago. She's 80 now, and still doesn't use a cane.

He's home!
He's even eating too. He has to eat; coverage for the tube feeding has been denied by the insurance company and it would cost us $500 a month to pay for it ourselves.

Sorry I haven't been around for a while myself.
Anne: Glad to hear that everything's going swimmingly for the two of you! I know how traumatic it is to go through something like that.
This has not been the best year for me. My dad died a year ago August and then my mom had a cerebral hemmorage and died this past May. On the happy news front, my oldest daughter just gave birth to her first daughter October 23. She was a whopper weighing in at 8lbs. 7.5ozs and was 20.5 inches long. They are staying with us right now since they live in a 3rd floor apartment with no elevator.
Anyway, again, I'm glad to hear you have good news Anne!

Bev
