On the way to work this morning, I saw a herd (eight if I counted right) of deer, just browsing near the road about a block from where I live. No antlers that I saw, and all of them seemed adult size. Cute critters.

We get them around here a lot. New construction takes away their habitats so they wind up milling around built up areas. Some have become so accustomed to humans they don't even look up when you walk by. But their small brains still don't know how to judge the impact of a vehicle traveling at posted highway speeds.

Just saw a clip on CNN involving some whales going after a seal. The seal had jumped up on an ice flow (yes, this was among the colder places on this Earth <for those who love asking redundant questions>) so the whales swam by very close to the ice flow creating waves forcing the seal into the frigid ocean (once again affirming approximate location of the incident) where upon the whales chased the seal around in the water for a while then caught it and pushed it back up on to the ice flow.

The moderator suggested the whales were just teaching their young this 'modus' of hunting but I thought that maybe the whales were just playing.

Put that incident in perspective with the roving gang of 'nasties' filmed in Las Vegas attacking single individuals. One a guard in a parking garage of one of the major hotel/casinos out there and another I don't think the victim was identified.

That looks like you'd be safer being attacked by whales than human species type bipeds.
