A very special teacher
Very good, Brian. She can't help but be honored and feel blessed at seeing what her influence has had on you and the rest of her students. She's quite a role model.

It was a really nice event. Many tears and much applause. I think about 200 people showed up. Here's a pic of me and Mrs. Rynearson:

Here's an interesting story from the tribute...
I was catching up with my old Guidance Counselor at the event, who must be in her 80's now. When I told her that I'm developing simulators, mostly for the Navy, she said, "you know, I operated a simulator in the Navy." I had no idea.
I knew she had been in the Navy, but not in simulation. She told me she operated a Link trainer in WW2. Honestly, that must have been one of the first flight trainers in existence. Edwin Link produced the first ones in the mid-30's. (See http://www.coe.uh.edu/visualville/linkhist.htm) And here we are 60+ years later and I'm working for one of Link's sister companies. What a small world.
I mentioned that to a friend of mine, a much-respected man in the industry, who is on the board of directors for the National Center for Simulation, located here in Orlando. He thinks her story would be a great human interest story and now he'd like to talk with her about her Navy and simulation experiences.

What?? You aren't a Romulan??? I'm in shock.
It sounds like it was a great evening. It's nice to see what you really look like.

I don't remember ever having a teacher like that. And all my bosses earned their positions the hard way. They joined their dad's company. Didn't matter how dumb they were that automatically made them the boss.
