Food Rules

Post by brian » Tue Jun 06, 2006 2:00 pm

This was a topic of discussion on the radio this morning, and it was a fun thing to think about.

Do you have "food rules" that you never break? Most of these sorts of things, people don't even realize they have, until they see someone break them.

For example, when I'm making a deli sandwich, the order is always meat, then cheese, then lettuce. Never any of this cheese first, or meat on top nonsense. And I didn't even realize that I had a strict order until I heard this discussion and really started thinking about it.

Now, mayo can touch the meat or the lettuce, but never the cheese.

Mustard preferably will touch the meat, but it can touch the cheese as a fallback if there is no lettuce. Mustard must never touch the lettuce.

I have no earthly idea why. :scratchhead:

When I'm putting mustard and ketchup on a hotdog, the mustard goes between the dog and the bun on one side, and the ketchup goes between the dog and the bun on the other side. That squiggle thing some people do is just too chaotic and messy.

What are some of your food rules? :-D

So, how do you keep these things from touching each other after you've eaten them? ;)

Food rules?? Yeah! I never have potato (e) chips or (french) american fries with a bottle of wine that costs more than $30 at the wine shop. I guess you guys think that's silly but that's me. :truce:
